security & radio lock on clutch swap???

Default security & radio lock on clutch swap???

hey, newbie here. doing my first clutch change in my y2k c5. doing a ls7 clutch set up. buying parts online and while looking for a mechanic one of them told me he would have to reprogram the computer because "the security and radio would lock out"??? is this correct? i cant find any threads on this. i am reading most of you guys doing a clutch in the driveway over a weekend? help!

Your security system should be fine with a battery disconnect, no reset.
The radio can be an issue if it has a code put in it for the theftlock feature.
It will need to be reset if the battery power is disconnected.
So that mechanic was just doing way much CYA on this one here lol.

cant you just get a memory saver and prevent this?? it plugs into the accesory outlet with a 12v battery on the end of it and it prevents the radio from losing power??

Not sure where I could find it but if you do have a theft lock and it does reset, there is an 800 number to call to retrieve it. Then again, a good dealership can also find it for you and walk you through how to put your own code in case it happens again (which it will if you are modding).

I thought I entered that theft code when I bought my car. Had the battery disconnected plenty of times and never had a problem with that.

You can use a memory saver. They work great, unless you during the repair short a powered wire out it will pop the fuse in the saver.
