reverse wont 'take'

reverse wont 'take' when i put my car into reverse, most of the time it doesnt 'take' ... if/when it does(sometimes takes 5-6 tries) it will kick it out of gear every so often(seems like its not in reverse all the way)... and if i get in in good, it wont kick out at all. all other gears work fine. could this be a fuse problem or am I looking at a rebuild in my near future?
