Default Best GTO Drag Racing Mods?

like the title says. Who are the big boys when it comes to GTOs at the strip? And what are the suspension mods needed to go fast and be safe?

Pedders sells a package with springs, rear shocks, subframe bushings, swaybar bushings, and control arm bushings for less then a grand. Thats what I recommended for suspension.

Stub to hub, one peice drive shaft, diff cover, drag springs, bushings.AndFor some better 60ft's look into some slicks and a converter ( if A4) if M6 upgrade the clutch.

Outside of slicks, what Drag Radial do you suggest and what is the max width?

I say just making sure your car is in good running order. My LSD is shot and I get the one wheel peel through the top of secong gear resulting in poor times. I run 275 nitto 555r with no rubbing on the stock 17's and not cutting or rolling. Next for me is gears and a Kaaz LSD. If I have sum $$$ left over im going drag bags and a shifter.

To keep it simple, get a harrop cover, drag bags, and if M6 run MT ET Streets (bias plys) If you have the money to spend then upgrade the suspension, Pedders GSR shocks, 5/16 raised springs and bushings. If m6 you will need a clutch if you plan on racing a lot, i have had good luck with my textralia and my buddy has had good luck with spec so its a personal preference on your part. I have about 150-175 passes on my car now.

As far as suspension I suggest going with some Pedders 5/16" drag springs, 0" springs up front, rear big bore shocks, x-member bushings and rear diff bushing. To me the Hurrop cover is a waste of money and a 1 piece drive shaft is pointless unless your in the mid 10's.

Also I suggest getting 2 more stock 17" wheels and putting some 275/40/17 MT ET Streets on them. Right now I'm just using some 285/18/35 Nitto 555R's. I doubt I will ever use MT ET Streets due to I have already busted one rear diff, I don't need to break anothing.

I had the rear diff bushing and was still getting a good amount of wheel hop during the burnout and unless i hit my launch perfectly everytime. I put the harrop cover on and have not gotten wheel hop yet, just going by my personal experinces.

My car has drag bags and craddle bushings. Other than that, the rear end and suspension is totaly stock. It's been 1.45 60ft on that setup.
Wheel hop will kill a rearend faster than anything.
Harrop cover and all the other high dollar parts = waist of $
I run 275x50x15 Mickey Thompson drag radials on Bogart wheels.

Automatic vs manual transmission makes a huge difference in how the rear reacts when it comes to wheel hop.

I partly agree with you, but for people with decent brakes, we can't use 15" rims. This makes putting power to the ground MUCH more difficult. Setting up a drag-only car is easy, but building a fast street car is a real bitch. IRS is almost more evil in suspensions than in finances.

15" wheels fit just fine on our cars. I used a 1/2" spacer on the front for my Bogarts.
And I ran a 9.78 @ 137 last night on my all stock IRS. The ONLY suspension mods I have are drag bags and craddle bushings.
