Default RPM limiter, 2 step, 3 step, Harlan, MSD, etc.?

I'm going to need some kind of rpm limiter for the new setup so that I don't come out of the hole as hard because with the old setup, I was having a hard time keeping the front down. Now with a much more aggressive setup, I'm sure it's going to be an even bigger problem.

Last I read, Harlan wasn't making 2 steps anymore. The only thing I've come across is MSD. Is there anything wrong with the MSD? Is Harlan making them again?

How do I determine if I need a 2 or 3 step? I'm not even sure what the difference is.

2 step and 3 step are the same thing. they are both electroncs that limit a rev point. 2 step is for the launch, 3 step is for the burnout.

Why not just run a travel limiter on the front?

lingenfelter makes a nice and simple looking unit, I'm gonna pick one up hopefully next week.

Because my converter flashes to 5800 rpms and I'm not sure if I want to come out of the hole that hard off the transbrake.

Can you be more specific for the burnout? Why would you need the rpms limited while doing a burnout?

Lingenfelter, PnP? Plug and play?

I do have a set of travel limiters and I plan to tighten them up, but I still would like to get a limiter.

you don't really need the burnout limited, but some people like to for consistancey. If you have a good tach in the car, you can just go off that.

The lingenfelter one is supposed to be plug and play, I will probably be able to say more about it in a week or so.

strap the front down and tighten the shocks... if that still doesnt help get BS3 and pull a few degrees of timing on the starting line and curve them back in by the 60'... ofcourse the curve/time will depend on how much you pull at the line...

Swapping over to the BS3 is a bit much. $2400 is an expensive solution for trying to control my wheelies.

Which one of these is the one I need? The 1st or 2nd one?

you can control your wheelies by other means... like letting air out of tires to get more wheel speed or strapping the front down... but it sounds like your a race car and some time or another the BS3 will save you lots of time and trouble...

I went ahead and ordered the Lingenfelter rev limiter. It already shipped out and should be here Friday. I hope I made the right decision because I never make a decision this quick.

I have the MSD 6010 6LS box in my car. I will let you know how it is after we fire it up and get some passes. Maybe this weekend...
