You never know how healthy or unhealthy your motor is. Could be anywhere from 500-600rwhp. I did 523rwhp on a stock LS1 with alcohol injection, no problem.

i believe the general consensus is about 8lbs of boost... there are guys that have run 10psi for quite a while, but i wouldnt go over 7 or 8 lbs unless you want to rebuild soon

I would say with all the supporting mods like intercooler, methanol injection, bigger fuel system (dual fuel pumps, injectors, ect.), a good safe tune, you could probably run on maybe 8#'s max for a while. Eventually though, you are still probably going to be looking at a rebuild if you plan on using the boost on any kind of regular to moderate basis. Non-forged high CR motors like the LS1 (or LT1 for that matter) just aren't made to run boost from the factory. You might make it 25,000 miles before something goes, or you might end up like a previous boss of mine who ran 8#'s with all the supporting mods and a good tune on his stock bottom end LS1 who fried a piston after 2500 miles.

I would reccomend 6#'s if you want any kind of longevity, but then its not really cost effecient because you won't really be making too much extra power and you'll still be out thousands on a blower or turbo unit not to mention the supporting mods.

IMO, its wiser to do one of two things; either spend the money wisely, and go with a good heads cam and intake package for not too much, or if you have your mind set on being boosted, save up until you can fully forge your bottom end, and then you can run some decent boost amounts reliably without worrying about having to do a rebuild.

if you want safe reliabilty i wouldnt go over 500rwhp(supercharged) or 550rwhp (turbo) with a good tune.
