Default Diagnosing Gear Noise (Input Bearing?)

When I am running at low RPM (less than 1200), I get a gear noise. If I launch firmly, I will not hear the noise. If I try to be gentle, or end up lugging down in stop-n-go traffic, it is quite obvious.

The car has 85k miles on it. I bought it at 80k. Since then, the stock 10 bolt has received Moser axles, a new set of 4.10's, a new set of bearings and a girdle.

This noise occurs in all gears. It only occurs under load, and only at low RPM.

Is my input bearing failing? Do I simply need to adjust the preload (change shims)?

I have a pile of parts to go in before spring, including headers and ORY, new opti, electric water pump, 160 deg stat, plugs, wires.

Should I lift the car off off the drivetrain so that I can easily install the parts, and have the tranny inspected?

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

my input bearing is going out on me, get your car on stands or on a lift and get under it while its running in neutral, if the sound goes away or gets better when the clutch pedal is pushed in it's most likely your input shaft bearing
