Stereo & Electronics - What is HVAC Fuse For?

I've tried searching already but there's a million posts here on it. We're working on the car as we speak and we need a quick answer.

What's the HVAC fuse run? My buddy's car is a '99 T/A. Can he drive home without that fuse?

Awesome! Thanks! He's getting a replacement tomorrow. Besides, it's about 60 degrees by 10:00 am and only getting up to about 75 during the day. Gotta love this weather!!!
