Default Moser 9"

I have the Moser 9" rearend in my car. It has been in the car alittle over a year and has around 8,000 miles on it. Since I've had it the driver side axle bearing has gone out twice and today the passenger side bearing went out. Each time I've had a problem with a bearing I've changed both. Anyone know what could be causing this?

What do the failed bearings look like? That's going to tell you your problem. Poor quality bearings, lack of lubrication, alignment issue, etc.

Each time it has broke or cracked the housing of the bearing. They seem to have plenty lubrication, unsure about alignment but I think that is OK.

Give the Moser guys a call at 260 726-6689 and see if they have any ideas for you. I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem that I can think of. Bob

Most street applications require the use of tapered style axle bearings. the ball bearing style that Moser sends with their axles aren't intended for the side loads that street driving cause. most of the people that have converted their cars with these rearends don't put that many miles on the car, therefore may never see the wear or failure. Moser does offer their axles with the tapered style bearing, but it is a option at a small upgrade fee. heres the only problem... the axle offset is different with the tapered style vs. the roller bearing. you can't replace it without having the axle modified.

The first time it happened I called Moser and they sent me new bearings, the second time it happened I called them again and they told me to try a Napa bearing and gave me a part number. Those bearings have been in the car for about a year so I looked everything over and put another set in. What "ssvert99" says makes sinces so I will just have to deal with it for now. Thanks for the help.
