Default Rockers rubbing retainers

Posting this for a friend. He is having some valvetrain noise so he pulls his covers off and he's saying his stock rockers are rubbing his retainers leaving a rough edge. I guess it's only happening when the valve is closing or at the top of the lift. Open for any comments thanks

I had the problem, the shop I had do some head work for me without my knowledge surfaced the tops of the valve stems so they would all be level. BS, to make a long story short I only had ~ .022 clearance between the rocker and the retainer. Specs call for like .045. I had another shop install new Ferrea valves to get the clearance I needed.

Did he check the wipe? That is likely off too. What is the installed height?

Still haven't figured out why the stock rockers were roughing up the retainers. He switched to Harland Sharps and from stock length to a 7.425 PR and it made the valvetrain louder but seemed to stop the rubbing. I got a chance to take some pics since the heads are off now (He blew the motor up, hydrolocked it I think)

The tips of those valve stems look like they are sitting too low in the retainers.Pushrods don't change rocker geometry. Shims do. Shims also would have most likely moved the rockers off the retainers.
