Default wanting 500 plus hp ls1

So im going to be buying a gtm kit car most likey here in a few months. For those that dont know, The kit car uses a ls powered engine, a ls1, ls2, ls6, or ls7. I want between 500 to 600 hp but want to stay with a ls1(money confindments) so my first idea was to just TT it but after advice from a few people that may not work/fit in the mid eng bay soo.... I am pretty new in the whole LSx engine and was wanting just to put a ls1 in it(coming from an import tuner) So what H/C pkg would best fit my hp goals plus what supporting mods should I have...keep in mind this is pretty much a one time shot becuase really anything i decide to do to the eninge after its already in the car is going to mean me pulling the engine(only bad thing ive found bout the car), thank you for any input!

Look up Patrick G, he has an excellent post detailing the setup and parts required to make 500rwhp from an LS1.

Try this link https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/732392-recipe-500-rwhp-heads-cam.html

Patrick G has a great thread for 500 horse power H/C.

If you're set on building this kit car, and you're under money confinements to the point where you can't afford the difference between an LS1 and another LSX engine, you're in a pretty bad position my friend.

wait a minute.............

40k for the kit car, discussing a 600 hp tt kit thats likely to cost 8000 and up.............

find your priorities before you commit, or find if you can get a cheap used block first.

my advice would be a 408 stroker, it will meet all your goals. for around 10k complete with cnc'd ls6 heads.

I think I can get this just shy of 40K. Thats if I find the transmission for a good price, the G50 transmissions are hard to find.
Kit: $20,000
Engine: $4,000 (used ls1 with no mods)
Transmission: $3,500 (without LSD)
Other accessories needed: $5,000

EDIT: but then again, thats not including paint, but I have a friend that paints, he said he would only charge for the paint

i would at least do a stock ls2. i doubt you make 500hp for $4000 on a ls1. i am modding a ls1 for my 69 and wish i would have just bought an ls2. by the time you upgrade everything it will be cheaper.
