mounting depth and tweeter question.
I have searched around the stickies but haven't found an exact answer. I am replacing the front door panel speakers in my 00 WS6 and I was wondering what the max mounting depth of the woofers were, and what size of tweeters I need to use. Thanks

i'm not sure of the maximum mounting depth, but according to Crutchfield, there are speakers with a top-mount depth of 2 11/16" that fit with no modification. it's unlikely that you'll find many 6 3/4" speakers that are much deeper than that.
as for the tweeters, i'd just get a component set and use whatever tweeters come with them....don't worry too much about the size of the tweets.

In the stock baskets depth of 2 3/4" midbass fit in the stock location without issue. If you cut the back of the stock basket you can gain about an inch before you run into potential issues with the window glass. Just about any tweeter 1.5"-2" will fit behind the stock grills. I use a CDT 1" silk dome tweeter behind my grills in the stock locations. Depth is about 1" as well. 3/4" works just as well. I like silk dome because they are a little less harsh than some other materials but my crossovers allow for adjustment anyway. What speaker were you wanting to use in the door?
