Default What is required....(transmission related)

To fit an overdrive 5 or 6 speed manuel transmission into a 64 A-body, specificly a 64 oldsmobile with a 330 V8. The car has a 4 speed muncie right now and im interested in fitting it with an overdrive transmission. Which transmission you ask? Im not sure, which one will be best?

I have read about T5's being weaker, but the 330 I will be putting it behind is not that powerful. I dont know much about the t-56 or any other modern overdrive for that matter. Do any of these modern transmissions have a way to hook up a mechanical speedometer?

Thanks for the informatioN!

I think Classic Chevy 5-Speed makes a kit to put a Tremec TKO-500 in you car. Give them a call...

for the t56 you must use an adapter for the speedo and have to rig an hydraulic clutch as well.

If you go to teamchevelle.com youll find quite a few guys running t56's on these cars. It would be a good place to ask questions.
