New & doing a 5.7 vortec into a 79 El Camino New Texas member. Referred here from El Camino Central and Monte Carlo SS sites. I presently have a Father/son 79 El Camino project. We have built a 2000 5.7 (actually a 1999 left over but in a 2000 3/4 T truck) Vortec to put in the Elky. I am going back with the Spider fuel inj. sys. (yeh, I know, but I really want to go fuel injected and other FI options get out of my budget) We are also using the mated 4L80 tranny.
Now we could use any help, advice, referrals etc. before we launch into stabbing the engine and buttoning the project up.
Background: When he was 9 - 11 he helped me build a (bow tie powered) Cobra replica that we still cruise in. We have had other car projects, but this one I want to build for his daily driver. In other words we know just enough to make some really big mistakes and I'm just hoping to avoid as many as we can.
