Hey guys, I have a 99 LS1 and it is going into a 69 Camaro. I have an Autometer mechanical water temp guage with what I think is a 1/4" pipe fitting.....not sure on that size.....regardless, is there a place on the head I can use? Or is there another place I can use?

JPH...thanks, I was kinda thinking the same thing, but I was curious, is it possible to drill out the unused port in the head on the pass side to accomodate what I need? (I am looking for cleanliness here) I'd much rather have it on the head if possible, but if it any of you guys feel I better not drill and tap on the head, I guess I better go for the WP.

Any thoughts?

I and many have used the passenger head, just remove the plug and either find a 12mm sender, Use a 12mm to NPT adapter or drill and tap it for NPT. I drilled and tapped mine for 1/4" NPT.

Many think that it read hotter in this location. It might, but not by much. My thinking is that I would like to know the hottest spot in the engine anyway.

I drilled out the passenger head for my stock gauge. It works good.

Very cool guys. Thats the awnser I was looking for. I think I'm going the route I originally thought, but now that means I need to modify my Pacesetter headders. They are about an 1/8" away from the headder flange thats bolted to the head. Seem like an easy mod.

yes you can drill that out.(be super carefull) It will give you a better reading also.
