Default P-Metric or E-Metric?

What is the difference? Asking because I plugged in P245/50-ZR16 on BF Goodrich's website and nothing came up (actually, it wouldn't even let me select 50 after selecting 245). Yet if I chose E-Metric, I am able to find several tires in 245/50-ZR16. Is there a difference, or will the E-Metric 245/50-ZR16 work with my 16" wheels? Thanks!
