Is it on a polished alum wheel. If it is, it can be helped by you, or fixed by a wheel repair facility.
You can sand it down (trying to keep the origianl contour) and then repolish it.
If it is a painted aluminum wheel sand it (just to get the rough edges off) then you can get a metal filler (make sure it is compatible with aluminum), body filler also works but I prefer metal filler as it is much harder and more reliable. Fill the gouge and repaint.
