Default Crank/Pulley Seal Install Question

I apologize in advance if this seems like an idiot question , but since I don't know I thought I'd ask...

When swapping the crank/pulley seal, does the oil need to be drained first?

I'm in the process of doing my first cam swap, and have thus far survived the driver-side spring swap (passenger side springs are going on today).

Thanks in advance!

No you dont have to drain the oil because the oil is in the pan, but I would definitally change it before you start it. You never know what kind of dirt fell in the pan while doing the swap.

why are you changing it? I just did a cam swap (hotcam) in my '01 and there was no need to change it or any of the gaskets.

P.S. I did change my valve seals because they got distorted taking them out and I probably just did it wrong.

Thanks for the replies -

I actually answered my own question as soon as I pulled the timing cover.

The cam kit from Thunder Racing included it, so I thought I'd swap it out while everything was apart.

Thanks again!
