my buddy recently purchased a rock solid 70 nova...currently it has a 305 tbi yes tbi engine and a 700r4..why who knows lol...it was bought from a ricer...
he has decided to go lsx and he can get a complete 30k 02 5.3 for 1k$ intake to oilpan harness and anything he needs....
he vis shootin for a 12 second all motor car he can drive anywhere...i think with a cam exhaust and a good stall it will be easy...
I had offered to sell him my cam and valvesprings cam is a vhp #66 .004 282 286 @050 220/224 "551/551 in my full bolt on ls1 it pulls hard to 6500 and i gained 4mph on a hotter day over the stock 98 cam....
was curious of how it will perform in the 5.3.....
this project will start in a few weeks any tips thoughts or opinions appreciated....

it may be possible for a cam only car but isn't a nova about the same weight as a 4gen? if not s a set of decent heads would more then make it to 12's with a suspension that hook's. I think taction on that car is going tobe the bigest problem for getting quick time's.

Good luck to him, it'll be an awesome swap. I'm just finishing up a 6.0L into a '72 Nova which I got with a 305/quadrajet and th350... and I just can't wait to feel the new power in a light(ish) car like the Nova.

12s with a 5.3 with a cam and converter would be a cake walk, even if it weighed as much as an fbody. I have a 5.3 in my 72 Nova also, turbo though.
