What is the difference between first design and second design? I was wondering what the stock torque specs was on my motor... 99 Camaro
I will be replacing the stock ones with the Katech brand to avoid resizing the connecting rod and because they are a lot stronger.
By the way, does anyone know where I can get a set of these rod bolts? I have already ordered some in the only place I could find them and they are on back order for about 2-3 weeks and my car is torn apart now!! I didn't know I would need them till now...

You can't check the bearings unless you are going to replace them. Once they are unseated they are trash, even if they're good.
You can order the rod bolts right from Katech still as far as I know.
The difference between the first and 2nd version of the stock bolts was a change in tensile strength. I imagine because they ran into problems with the first design in the LS6 engines when they spun them to 7000+.

the earlier ones have ferrules in them. The katech bolts will come with their own torque spec sheet in the package. Make sure you burnish them correctly and use the lube on the bottom of the hat.
