Default Switching from a4 to m6 few questions..

So basically me and a friend are doing a swap
My 1998 A4 Trans am
His 2001 M6 Trans am

Were going to switch transmissions and etc and convert.

We have everything we need to do this, just one question.
What do we need to do about the wiring harnesses?
Can we swap those as well? Or is there compatibility issues with the year.

98 has a differant pcm than 99-02 so you cant switch the harness. Check out the sticky there alot of good info in there.

Your going to have to cut your harness and wire it up to you clutch and all that good stuff. As for him he will have to do the same thing. Just run the right wires to the right places.

None of the pcm/wiring stuff is interchangeable between your two cars, '98s are completely different. Your '98 TA is simple, you just need all of his M6 stuff and then there's just a little wire splicing to do on your factory a4 harness, the details of which are gone through in detail in the sticky at the top of this forum. You'll then need to have the pcm flashed to a M6.

His '01 TA is a little more difficult. He'll need all of your A4 hardware plus an A4 harness from a '99+ car to control the 4l60e. I believe there is a site sponsor that sells these, otherwise you'll have to find a donor car. Of course he'll then need his pcm flashed to an A4.
