LS1s run rich w/ LTs?
I dont rememeber where, but I do rememeber reading somewhere that Longtubes on LS1s tend to make the car run a lot more rich and its in need for tuning after LTs. Is there any truth to this? It just kinda stuck on the back of my head, and now since I'm about to order my Longtubes in a couple weeks, Im trying to get everything together.

Re: LS1s run rich w/ LTs?
When i added my headers the car was running soo rich i lost 3mph in the trapspeed with the headers. I used to trap 110mph without the headers and after the headers i trapped 107. The car was running rich because of the check engine as the main reason. I fixed the check engine light by deleting the codes and after that i went to the track. I was trapping 111-112mph with a slipping clutch. So just buy the headers and try fixing ur check engine light if u get any and u will be fine. Oh by the way i didnt tune the car at all.

Mine ran perfectly before and after headers (fuel mixture 13:1) with no mixture adjustments. This was the case on both LS1s that I've installed headers on.
IMO, there are alot of people that think they're running rich that haven't had their car on a wide band O2 sensor to be sure. If you went by smell, sure, you'de think all headered cars were running fat.

I ran very lean (13.8-14.0:1 @ WOT) on a dynojet wideband after my LT's were installed. From what I gather the car will lean out on the street even more over a dynojet.

ive heard on here that they actually lean you out and the computer dumps too much fuel in making you run rich. as they said, MAFT will fix it either way.

I just want to remind those who think their car is running rich to get on a wideband O2 sensor if possible. At the very least, do some good track testing between settings to find the highest possible trap speed. (Be smart about it. Do multiple runs, average the results, and compare. Keep conditions consistent.)
Just because it smells rich DOES NOT mean that it is. You can remove the cats leaving the stock exhaust manifolds and make it smell richer.

My car's running great now, but before the cam and LS1Edit Tune on the dyno, I fried the SLP hi-flow cats & the stock SLP muffler. What was that a result of?
