9" with stock drive shaft question?

i just put a 9" in my 99 camaro with the stock drive shaft. The part that slides into the trans is about a inch to short. Has anyone else ran into this problem and how did you fix it? How long is the stock drive shaft?

reused my stock drive shaft in my 00 Camaro with my 9" all went well other than changing out the u-joint.

I was told it wouldn't hold the first time that I hooked up good. So I would say yes, but for how long is unknown. (don't quote me, I'm not a know it all) ????
