Default 97 rear in a 99??

picking up a 10 bolt from a 97 camaro it a 3 channel like my car. willl it fit. he said he bought it for his 2000 camaro but the 97 rear had abs on top of the pumkin and his went along the axles so he couldnt put it in.

Will it fit on my car??

He had a four channel car and bought a three channel rear, that's why it didn't fit. Could have just reused his axles and backing plates and it would have been fine.

Yes it will fit yours.

thanks man how can i tell if its out of a m6 or a a4. and how do i inspect the rear to see if its good??

Just looking at the rear alone you won't know if it was behind an M6 or A4. You could pull the cover off and flip the diff around to check for any missing teeth, gouges, metal shavings, etc but the real test is actually driving on it. It can appear ok to the eye but still be noisy, so buy from someone you trust.
