Cam Selection
my name is Kevin, and looking for a little help. I guess I will tell you what I'm doing first. I am currently building a 87' Mustang with a 6.0 LQ4. Will be a using the truck style intake, with a set 853 casting heads, The springs that are on them are the prc .660 duals with titanium retainers, ferrea valves, they are fully worked over and milled. The valves are 2.02 and 1.57. They flowed 296 at just .550 28 inches of water on the intake and 235 on the exhaust with a 1.75 pipe. I will be using a TH400 with a brake and be running 4.11's with a spool on 28" slicks. The car weighed 2800lbs before going under the kinfe and should be in the same area if not lighter when finished. I'm wanting it to be in the 10.70-90's on the motor if not faster. And then will spray 150-200 on occasion, for some 9's, never more than 200 though. I'm not as smart on cams as I would like to be, and am looking for some guidance, I was thinking about the Torquer2 or something around that area. But as stated before I am going to be using a stock LQ4 shortblock, but with new lifters, oil pump and chain. I am not wanting to spin the motor to high , no more than 6800rpm probably. So should I have the cam advanced any to bring the powerband down? Should this put me where I am wanting to go as far as reaching my goal. If there's anything I left out let me know..
Any input would greatly appreciated..Thanks in Advance..
