Default 502 bbc...warrenties???

ok so my dad bought a 502 from a dealership had it stroked to a 540 w/ H/C. we put it into our boat..... now the motor had at most 2.5 hrs on it, and it threw a bearing due to the cap on the back side of the motor leaking....its the cap on the back side of the motor where the cam is.....

is there anyway to be reimbursed for the repair of the motor since it was a factory flaw???

thanks

Might be tough to do. Kinda like a new car warranty, once you modify it can be hard to get it fixed. They can argue you changed a bunch of parts and how are they responsible once you tear the factory assembly apart.

If you built it into a 540 you should have checked for any problems when it was built. When you modified it it's all your's.

Yep, I'm thinking yer hosed on warranty. First, it was disassembled and modified. Second, it was used in a marine application. Most if not all GM crate engines say not for marine use.

I'm with everyone else...usually when you tear that far into something it voids your warranty. Maybe you can find a loop-hole though.....good luck!!
