well i checked the schrader valve today with the key on and sure enough the gas just dribbles out. so now my oe pump finally died.

i cant get a walbro from napa or anywhere by saturday/sunday so should i go with the napa oem replacement? or pepboys has a carter for $15x.

So your saying if the pump primes and you push the schrader valve it just barely dribbles gas out? For the price I would just get a Walbro and wait. The way i see it is if you have to replace it you may as well replace it with something better than stock.

yea but the car is my DD and i need it for work on monday.

yea, from all my stalling and hard starting problem posts i think you've seen i turn the key on and hear the initial buzz, but no whirring noise from inside the tank. checked the schrader valve and it just dribbles out. not even any pressure from the gas cap comes out.

Sounds like a pump then! Lucky you having to replace that! Are you doing the trap door or dropping the rear?

I know the feeling of having one car and it breaking too well. I have had to hitch rides with my brother too often when replacing something on my car or diagnosing what the problem is. Good thing I bought him a truck! Anyway I'd call around and see if anyone has a Walbro or could overnight one too you for pretty cheap. If not then stock replacement is your only choice.

yea, and it died in my garage as soon as i dropped my girlfiend off at home! haha.

yea i measured out the dimensions for the trap door. im just waiting to borrow a dremel from my neighbor.

i wouldnt know where to call besides napa, kragen for a walbro. plus i dont know if i should run it on stock voltage. i wanted to get the RT kit from thunder, but itll take a few days to get here so by tuesday/wensday.

A stock pump on the "hotwire kit" would be better than a stock pump on stock voltage. They are underpowered from the factory so that wouild be a nice upgrade to the regular pump. But as I mentioned I would just wait it out and get a Walbro with the "hotwire kit", maybe hitch rides till then. Thats just me though because I have a nitrous kit waiting to be installed so a better pump would help. But if you plan on not doing much more to your car I suppose a part's store pump would do you fine in your case. I'm just a firm believer in doing it once with an upgraded part.

Go with the parts store pump. It will work just fine with the cam too. Plus like you said you need the car by Monday so I say go for it. Then when it craps out again you can upgrade.

I needed a pump in a hurry for my brothers Z28 clone I put together for him. After looking around my best option was to buy the Granatelli (Walbro 255) from Summit for $125 and I had it in two days. You should be able to too being they have a location in Nevada.

I'm sure from the dealership is expensive but GM parts direct has them for $180. Like you said though you need it immediatly so a part store replacement is probably gonna be your only choice if they have it in stock.

The 255 walbro doesn't come with the sending unit or anything. Does come with a strainer. I have one sitting in my room waiting to be installed.

i have a question, could the EVAP solenoid or charcoal canister cause any stalling?

the car smells like gas from the canister area after driving, but im wondering if the purge solenoid is bad.

Now that one I can not answer. Maybe one of the other LT1 gods will chime in here tomorrow.
