Default Cast iron/aluminum..port job??

ok my question is...If you have 2 pair of heads one of them is cast and the others are aluminum if you port both of them the same which would flow better? or would they flow the same? is it worth it getting a port job and trading to cast? or keep the aluminum and get and port job?

any info would be appreciated thanks..

I know of several cases of guys having the irons heavily ported and them eventually cracking in the thin areas. They also require the added expense of machining for scrrwin studs and machining the guides for retainer clearance and machining it down for spring inner diameter. They certainly can work to a point.

The 374/643 aluminum castings though are the most desirable for porting and I have a set of those on my Caprice.

One of these days I will get around to some light cleanup of the old iron heads to put on my wagon.
