Default newbie question

Hello all i just joined this site today and have my first question. Early this week i bought my first muscle car a 1985 Trans Am with a 305 carb automatic. I'm still doing my homework about cars trying to learn more but my question was, if i wanted to swap out the 305 for say a 350 maybe, how hard would that be?

it's not too hard. what's your skill level? (i'm assuming if you're asking, you've never pulled a motor.)

obviously, the year of the 350 will affect just how much carries over. the '85 is not a centerbolt head motor.. you'll probably want to upgrade to a newer style. the GM ZZ4 crate is a great motor.

it's gonna ruin whatever is left of that tranny though
