Default light bump or knock when slow driving?

Ok, I'm kind of asking this question again for new thoughts. When I drive my car through my neighborhood there is a small knock or bump coming from the front driverside or so it seems. I'm not sure but I have wondered if my car (02WS6 T/A) has been lower down. The reason I wonder is that I see people talking about lowering their cars and I look at mine and I say no way! There is virtually no gap between the top of the tire and fender. At the most an inch and a half gap up front and two and a half in the back. I have checked the control arm bolts with a socket and ratchet and even the subframe bolts. I have even replaced the end links with no differance in the noise. I am starting to wonder id I have a bad shock. How can I tell with out taking things apart? The car has about 44,000 miles on it. What kind of gap does a stock WS6 have between the tire fender?

I need help before this drives me crazy!

Default have a similar problem, although it's more of a "rubbing" knock

if you know what I mean; something seems to rub in the very front driver's side engine compartment/shock/spring...
