Default valve cover gasket

I did a search and didn't find what I was looking for. Anyways, I have a small leak at the rear of my valve covers. I want to change the gaskets but I just want to check if there is anything I should be ready to encounter. I've done the headers so I have only 3 bolts in the coil packs. Gasket reccomendations, silicone?, anything else I should do why I have the covers off? I have a Chiltons and Haynes and I'm not worried about the job, just want to check with the real world first for any possible obsticals.

I'm curious about replies to this, cuz I have oil residue building up on the left front of the engine at the valve cover gasket, where the EGR crap used to be mounted to.
