Default Ticking Valvetrain?

My 95 z28 m6 has a ticking coming from the Drivers side of the engine. I'm 95% sure its not an exhuast leak. I can hear it on acceleration, and when the engine is decelerating. My question is, im going to take the valve covers off and see if i can figure it out. If i run the car with the valve cover off, will oil go everywhere? Can i just tighten all the rockers and see if it fixes the problem? I noticed that some of the rockers are a little loose on top of the rods (Can move some of them side-to-side a bit). How tight should they be? Any suggestions? Thansk guys

you need to tighten them correctly. you cant just go at it and start tightening rockers down any old way

follow this procedure

Sounds like leaky headers to me. I thought my rockers were making the sound, they weren't. It won't hurt to tighten em down though.

Like these guys said. It probably is an exhaust leak, or maybe from the AIR. IF you do pop the valve cover. You can run it. Oil will not go every, but just in case keep a rag handy it does like to pool in the back corner.

To check the rockers dont actually tighten anything to begin with. Just CAREFULLY put your finger on it and see if it quiets down. If it doesn't then you need to adjust it.

I actually think it might be an exhuast leak. One of my sparkplugs was really loose and i fixed that but it still sounds like a lawnmower upon acceleration. I'm going to check for exhuast leaks in a bit. Thanks guys
