Default Loose spark plug wire...type of damage?

Hi,

For the last few weeks I have had a reasonably loud and constant ticking sound coming from within the engine bay. It was most noticible with the car running, when standing next to the car - from within the car with the windows up, you could hardly hear it at all.

I have traced the problem to a loose spark plug wire (it was the one one the drivers side, closest to the windshield).

But, now that I have secured the spark plug wire correctly -
what I want to know is, what type of damage could this have caused to the engine - if anything?

Thanks,
UK CamaroSS

I doubt you did any damage at all.

Probably not. I had a similar problem, no damage done. It is possible that it could have hurt that coil, since there wasn't a good grounded path for the secondary voltage to travel through, except the component itself.

As long as it's not misfiring it's probably fine
