Default Surface Pressure Plate

ANyone ever just surface the pressure plate? I'm thinking about trying to save speading the 400 for a Lt1 pressure plate. But thought I would get some opinions

You would give the pressure plate less clamping force & allow the pressure plate to let the disc slip sooner.
It is just not done. The diaphram spring wears out & the pressure plate wears in general from movement.

Well I was currious to the idea. I didn't know if it could be done like a race clutch or not(like a pro mod set up)
