Default dyno today for the 408

dyno time today she made the rear u-joint explode, not sure if thats the cause but she only put down 350 i think the tuner said but hes clueless, they were running it till redline hitting the rev limiter a few times idk if it was to make the motor blow or what but im ****** pissed. he wouldn't tell me much

wouldnt tell me the a/f or how much timing he was putting in.

so im in a pickle on what to do

a get this the mother f'in ****** told me last year cause i gave him 100 to delete my after cat o2's that that would go towards my tune today but a year later he says its only 50 bucks, so wtf

and he made me pay him 350 and the tune isn't done

he said he doesn't know what i should do and that the cam's are touchy on the l76 intakes.

so idk if hes trying to rip me off so i buy a cam from him or what

so i think i am gonna try and get my money back and go else where

It put down 350 you think?? You can't get pissed if you don't even know the numbers or have a graph.. And if the tune isn't done yet then there could be alot more in it... And maybe it bounced off the limiter because the u-joint broke??? I dont think somebody would try to blow the motor with you there.

Who was tuning it? Sounds like a jackass. He doesnt think the fuel pumps putting out enough? Things like that are pretty easily diagnosed. Fuel pressure and injector duty cycle. Basic tuning 101.
Go get you money back.

also the car idled at 950 untuned and he i guess drilled the **** out of the iac passages on my new holley 90mm tb, what would be the reason if it already idled untuned?

he said he should charge me but wont

edit * ive been thinking about this all day, and am recalling things since ive cooled down.

I think you should calm down alittle and rethink the whole story. From what I got he was starting to tune it,hit the limiter and then the u-joint broke after. The rev limiter could of easilly be set at the factory 6200rpm which is no big deal.He was probly asking about the KR sensors since 1998 cars have a known problem of bad KR sensors.I've deleted them before while tuning.

This sounds like a wierd story. Why would you pay someone before the tune was finished? Why would you let someone tune your care who you thought was "clueless"? Sounds like you have some $$$$in the car, so why not go to a reputable tuner who you trust and who is prepared to fully disclose all the data.

be careful of your tuner. i lost a engine because he did not use a fuel pressure gauge when tuning and ran it lean. take it to one of the sponcers for tuning . bob at epp

Please tell the entire story including tuner and shop name or keep it to yourself. It doesnt do any good to ramble and not give out the details. More importantly, it doesnt help the next guy. You obviously have very limited knowledge of how tunning works. This doesnt make you wrong or right but it does make it more difficult for everyone else to figure out what happened and why given the limited info provided.

no money is comeing back

ill admit i was upset, but im only 21 and just spent ALOT of money on this and dont need a run around from someone, and dont have money to fix someones neglagence

the motor has maybe 100 miles on it, should he be dynoing it already? he said the rings need to be seated and to seat them you have to beat the **** out of the car

the tuner is a non sponsor but hes in waterford michigan sean at Collins Automotive Repair Services

i just got my car back from the shop had to tow it home wasnt fun

car now idles at 1500 rpms
he said it didnt run when i brought it in but i drove it there (30 miles) and have a few videos on youtube of it idleing at 950 untuned

he says the car came in with no clips holding the u-joints in, impossible
if thats the case why the hell would you run it on the dyno????

i bring up the fuel issue, subject change

everytime i brought something up, subject changed

he said i need to retard my cam 4 degrees and it'll make power
its a 23x/23x 61x,60x 110 ICL 114lsa he wants it at a 114 ICL

this guy told me i need to quit reading the forums since noone on here has proven much

rick@synergymotorsports spec'd it so i think hes proven himself

i got 2 witness's that can vouch for what he said

im done complaining cause it gets you no where i just wanna get the word out for any people near the detroit area looking to get tuneing done

heres what happend

dropped the car off told him to call me when he was gonna put it on the rollers, 5 days later no call cause he said it was gonna be on in 3.

i had work at a job site a mile away stopped by he had it about to back on the rollers (no phone call)

ran it on the dyno, his associate ran it while he walked away to his front office
comes back says "you put a fuel pump in right?" i said yeah a walbro 255, my injectors are 36lbs at 48lbs of fuel pressure so he said on our fuel pressure they would be close to 50. he then says i might be running out of fuel up top, MIGHT not yes or your not.

asks if it has knock sensors i said yes, he turns the knock table off says run it again and walks away his associate runs it to redline bouncin the limiter for close to 10 secs, my belt flys off and a loud boom!

he thought it was the motor, motor starts fine, thought it was the rear end or trans, car moves, we then see a u joint cap on the floor, so the u-joint is busted he says get it off the rollers i got another car i need to get on there. he says im not makin what i should and isnt sure what the problem is but he thinks it is my cam

says he has a calcuator at home and will run my cam specs and told me to go get a built drive shaft its 300 from this local driveshaft place, then says i have to pay him before i leave and the tune will be finished when i get the new driveshaft, and says he doesnt know what it could be but im not maken the power i should.

The thing that sucks is that you can't file any kind of civil suite being that it's under $1,500 bucks! I would definitely talk to the local BBB and see what they say, or the shop owner if Sean is not the guy.
