Default coolant plug/temp sensor

I'm currently swapping the coolant plug and temp sensor to my new dart heads. The "how to" I'm using as a reference suggests to use teflon tape/gel on these pieces, is that recommended?

I would use RTV blue on the threads. That's what i use. Or the 10,000psi teflon paste. That's what i used on all my oil lines.
