Help With Installation of GM Head Bolts. Lube or Not Lube
I will be installing my heads today and need to know if when using the stock GM head bolts if I should put a drop or two of oil on each bolt and a drop under the head of the bolt where it contacts the head. A mechanic suggested that I do this to get an accurate torgue reading before having to strecth the bolt for the last time. Please let me know what you are doing when using the factory head bolts. Oil on threads and under the head of the bolt or not?
Thanks for any and all help with this.

are you using stock head bolts?
THe ARP came with instructions to torque to 75ftlbs if using assembly lube and 85ftlbs if using motor oil to lube.
I cant say for sure with the stock torque to yield, but I would lube up the threads and the heads.
I didn't have nay issues btw..... good luck!

Assuming your using TTY OEM bolts, the service manual doesn't mention anything about lubing up the head bolts. I put them in dry.
I'm sure you already know this, but you can't reuse your original bolts.
