Gas mileage with bigger cam?
I am thinking about getting a MS4 cam from Texas Speed and wondering what kind of gass mileage and performance i will be looking at with it. I have an M6.

Depends a lot on your driving habit. Expect a considerable hit. Whatever you're getting now, subtract 4-5 mpg and that's about what I'd expect. Also, consider you're going to have to add a lot more throttle to get the car into its powerband with an MS4, so consider a massive hit in city driving mpg's. This would be better posted in the internal section so people with the cam will see it and reply.

as choco stated, alot of its gonna be the fact that your gonna have to rev higher to get it moving. that alone hurt me pretty bad because i added the stall and gears too. its also gonna be a pyschological thing were for some odd reason you are going to want ot go faster.
is the car a daily driver? because if so, you're going to want to do one of a few things:
1. consider a smaller cam to minimize the hit, 228r or tr230 are two that i like that wont suck so much in gas, and are MUCH more street freindly than MS series
2. get N2O so its a horsepower-on-demand situation, youll have stock driveability and fuel mileage 95% of the time, but keep in mind this can mean upgrading your pump and injectors to prevent against a lean situation.
or my personal choice
3. suck it up, be a man, and realize that you are modifying a 5.7liter engine and its going to cost you

My cam (see sig) is not an MS4 but not small either. Driving normally, I get about 17 around town and mid 20s on the highway. I recorded 25.3 going from Dallas to Austin the other day. Of coarse that goes down if I'm romping on it.
