Default Stock LS1 replacement pistons... WOW!!

Have any of you guys ever priced some stock replacement pistons? I just called up the local Chevy stealership & was quoted $125....... I thought "not bad at all" then he said EACH. Is that really what they cost everywhere? I thought I might cheap out & go back with stock instead of forged.... haha, guess not.

You can buy forged piston cheaper than that. Stock pistons have a bad rep for breaking ring landings, so if i was you, i would go with the forged pistons. so if you ever do any heavy modding like big cams ,(for valve relief) and nitrous so no melted pistons, and for durability.

Thanks.

I have a 99 block and I'm getting it bored .007 from 3.898 to 3.905. It's a relatively safe bore and the piston size (3.905) is a pretty standard one if you're going to go forged like I am.

that's what I wanted to do but i've seen on here where .005 is the most you wanna go on the 98 block so I dont know. There's so much mis-information on the intraweb it's hard to determine what is right sometimes. I don't know if the 98 blocks really can't be honed as much as the 99 & later ones or it's just another one of those 'myths'.

The cylinder sleeves on 98 are thinner, that is a fact. Choose your pistons to hone as little as possible while having a clean pattern on the walls.
