Default Victor jr vs LS2 intake

Hey guys i'm thinking of swapping my victor jr intake to a LS2, I am currently running a Victor Jr intake with a Nitrous Daves Elbow. The car put down 740 RWHP and 685 ftlbs of torque on a mustang dyno @16 PSI. Just currious to see if I would pick up some more down low and maybe a little more hp if I switch to a LS2. I dont know if that elbow I have is holding me back and if by switching to a LS2 i will pick up more velocity which might give me a little more.

Let me know what you guys think

Brian

I would honestly stick with what you have. Once you start to turn it up more the intake should work well for you. If you want more low speed torque the LS6 would be better then both the LS2 and the victor.

I would probably just stick a FAST 90 on there since you already have the TB, I would think you would have plenty of bottom end with a 402 so I'm not exactly sure what you are looking for in the end.

LS2 would be cheaper I guess, on paper they look great but in reality I dont think they work much better than an LS6. Then there's that new LS6 intake coming out soon that may be the best alternative, thats what I'm waiting to try..

if i can get my hands on the 'new' intake i would be happy to sell my proven ls6 intake to you

on the other hand if i was you and allready had that stuff on the car and wanted more power i would pulley up

Default Pulley up

I was thinking just go down to a 4.25 blower pulley and maybe switching the Elbow. I just thought the torque numbers looked kinda low

Think the fast 90 would be a better alternative, I was looking to get the torque #'s up a little.. On the other hand I know that new intake is coming out so curious to see how that performs.

I know the "grass is always greener" mentality can lead to unnecessary parts swapping, but how jaded do you have to be to consider 685ftlbs to be low on torque? No matter what you do, on a proper centrifugal blower setup the peak torque will always be a lot less than peak horsepower.

What pulley combo are you running? The LS2 intake will suffer down low the LS6 will do better. As far as what you have I think KP may be right there haven't been any gains with the Fast 90 from the various people I have talked to, but no real losses either so the intake with your current TB may be a good alternative. Or you could sell everything and do an LS6 with a ported stock or Accufab 78 TB. GL.

I realize that is a pretty good number, but just have had doubts with that intake
and elbow combo. People I have said that with Ls6 style intake, I might bring that number up because it would be more velocity... besides with that elbow being cut the way it is i am not sure if i am losing there.. Just looking at it as I have spent so much already that If it is going to benefit me to try a different intake setup, then that is something I might want to look into doing...

This is a good topic! I have been wondering the same thing about some of this stuff. I have a FAST 90 already but didn't think it was the best for boost. So I was thinking of going another route. When is this new intake going to be hitting the streets?

Centrifugal blowers will not make the huge torque numbers of a turbo or positive displacement blower unless you overdrive the crap out of it where it puts out max air around 5000rpm.

I really wouldnt be too worried about it the torque numbers, centri's tend to drag out the torque for quite a while and the average number will make up for lower peak numbers in the long run.

But that elbow probably isnt the best thing in the world either, find someone local to lend you a FAST 90 and see

Only new passes are here from a couple weeks ago:

http://lsx.streetfire.net/video/2465...930000ab56.htm

I added a new 25.5 cage, fire system, and air shifter so I'm 100lbs heavier than last year. The new LS2 isnt making any power than the old 346 really, same heads/cam and everything else so I didnt expect to pick up much but my 3" collector and Y-pipe exhaust is probably getting a little restrictive. I really havent been running the car much, enthusiasm level is pretty low with the diesel prices going through the roof. No 1/4 mile tracks closer than 200 miles away

I'm surprised yours didnt sell, was a good price for what you have there.

That thing sounds tough, nice 9.0 run... I was kinda wondering about my y- I had a custom 3.5 made going into single 4". the collectors are 3.5, so well see if it is breathing enough.. I can't believe I couldn't sell it, I had low offers of like 21,000 , I still entertain the thought of selling it, but not for that price. So I just picked up a rossler 400, and am going to try to get it to the track here soon, still need a converter and need to figure out what shifter i want.

It was pretty warm that day so on a cool day it will still run in the 8s so I'm happy with how its running.

Right now I have 1 7/8 headers with 3" collectors into a flowmaster merge and a single 4" muffler and I think its hurting me a little power-wise. I would run open headers but its loud as hell.

Only way to sell one of these is to give it away these days it seems, but when you go to buy something people want a fortune lol. Thats why I just keep mine around, good luck on the TH400, makes the track a lot more fun
