Is an LT1 clutch any different??
hey so ive been looking around for a new clutch for my 95 z28 and ive found plenty of them for a pretty penny. I know the size is 11'' disk 1 1/8'' and 26 spline. now my question is there are alot of listings for GM clutches that have all the same dimentions but dont say lt1 and they are hundreds of dollars cheaper. Is there a difference in an lt1 clutch or can these be used?

I was wondering the same thing, but if you look carefully there is normally one small difference.
From what I've heard the best way to save money is to order the Clutch Kit from Auto Zone and change out the disk.

The disc for the LT1 is different than any other 11” disc in the way it works because it designed to work backwards of the standard 11” disc. Dimensionally they are comparable but depending on the pressure plate you are using the required thickness of the disc can be different. The LT1 disc has reversed travel/damping (spring compression) of the disc so a standard 11” disc will have less spring compression/damping/travel. The strength of the standard 11” disc used in an LT1 application will also be reduced due to the wings (where the facings are riveted to) are now backwards. Keep in mind the reduced travel means you may get more drive line resonance when using the standard 11” disc on an LT1 application. Let me know if I can be of any other help?
