Default Noob- full exhaust question

I have a borla adjustable catback and just ordered a Pacesetter Y pipe. I'm going to get the Pacesetter LT's also. Do i just need to get 24in. o2 sensor extensions and a pair of new GM exhaust manifold gaskets? Or can i go with 12in? I don't know if this matters but I dont have emissions or anything to pass so I can pretty much go with the setup of my choice. Any info would help on the smaller things I need to complete my exhaust. Thanks

Paul

Your car is a 98 I am assuming? If you do not need to pass emissions, get the race style headers. Then delete your egr and air systems. The stock gm gaskets will work just fine and you need a 24 inch and 12 inch extension...or you could just get 2 24 inch extensions, doesnt matter.

Ya, I forget what side, you could just zip tie it out of the way.

Yeah ill probably do that. With this set up along with deleting the EGR and AIR will i throw any codes?
And when i order the Pacesetter headers, the race version is the "off road" version correct? And is it necessary to get the armor coating or jethot coating on the headers?

Yes, race = offroad. Jet Hot will always be better, because it coats the outside and the inside and is higher quality. But sometimes you have to wait longer because shops don't keep them in stock.

Yes, a check engine light will come on for EGR and AIR...but don't worry about it until you get a tune...it will be turned off.

Jet hot coating is nice, I noticed my passenger side header is showing some wear after a year. Still can not beat the price though. Your car will throw the codes, should run decent though. I do not know what kind of budget you have, but you might want to consider an ls6 intake while your there and just get it all tuned. Either way, good luck!

I have the same setup that you are going to get and it is LOUD with the open plate. Twice as loud as manifolds and catted Y.

I think it depends on the car....on my 2002 Z28 the Pacesetter ypipe doesn't make any noise...but it did on my 2001 with the same setup.

I got my Y pipe but dont have the funds for the headers for about 2 more weeks. Can i put the Y pipe on now with the stock headers and borla catback? Or should i just wait? I dont mind if i throw a code or anything as long as the car runs ok till i get the headers on and get it tuned.

Wait!

When you install your headers/y-pipe....be sure to sell your stock catalytic convertors to help ease the wallet pain of spending a large amount on exhaust.

LS1BlackBird99 buys them for $150.

Ive had 2 pacesetter Y pipes and 1 fit excellent and the other one had to be persuaded a little bit. The only other problem I had was the Y pipe banging on the floor under WOT. Solid motor mounts and a prothane trans mount fixed that. Good Luck
