Default $$ Misfire Who Will Figure It Out??? $$$

ok winner gets ten dollars via paypal

2000 t/a

let it idle today and it started misfiring, check engine light was flashing

pulled each injector plug off and every cylinder would die more than it was already missing.

each wire is sparking and they are brand new tightened and pushed down all the way.

fuel pressure is at steady 55 pounds

each coil has spark as well

when i drove it after i happened it revved really slow and it was an obvious misfire. when on the road i would hold the pedal half throttle it would jerk to no power to go.

ten dollars for your solution that gets it

and plugs are also like 4 months old

If you can, take the car to autozone or advance auto, they will scan the code for you. Find out whether it is just a random misfire or a particular cylinder.

Make sure you don't have a plugged exhaust (cat clogged?)

If the valves aren't opening/closing right you can have a misfire from that (ask me how I know...) Any strange valvetrain noises?

Don't want the $10, just trying to help

MAF is dirty or else your O2's are bad. Both can cause it.

$5 can of MAF cleaner or just unplug it to see if you still get misfires.

My bet is O2's, you can buy a $10 propane torch and heat the gunk off them or buy new ones or swap with a buddy.

Good points.

Does the exhaust smell any different? If the O2 is acting up and dumping extra fuel in that can cause misfires and make it smell very rich.

I'd bet 02s, hook them up to a scan tool and watch the readings of them.

My car did the same ****, and got so bad to the point of it barely running. One 02 sensor was the fix.

yes i would say cracked spark plug if you have ngk's but you might not see anything wrong with the plug on the outside just replace the plug for the cylinder with the most miss fires it will only cost maybe two bucks for the plug then you can rule that out if it does not work.

for sure pull the plugs and check them . i have seen the tips of plugs burn off and drop into cylinders . this would not be good for anyone not saying that is the problem but it is good to check when the car has a bad missfire . dont need the $10 just want to help .
