Default Tire press sensors reduce power on C6Z?

I read that the cpu will reduce power if low tire pressure is sensed or if no pressure is detected as would be if other rims were used without the gm sensors. Is this correct and if so does anyone know what year that this was implemented? Is it only on C6 models? Any input would be appreciated.

I don't know if a regular c6 is any different from a c6z but my car will just let me know if the tire is low and to not go over 55 mph. I still went over 55 mph just to see if it would let me do it and it did so it is just a warning.

It's hit or miss, only some cars are affected.

My car is not one of the affected ones.
