LS6 Block?
Ok, I've got an LS6 crate engine in my '01 Z-28 right now and I'll be adding a STS kit w/ GT67 upgrade and FMIC with meth. I've got an old MMS 229 cam (.581/.581 229/229 114), Cloyes timing set and a pair of 317 heads w/ PRC springs waiting to go on as well. My question is; Is the LS6 block really that much better? I've got the original LS1 that was in the car before it hydrolocked with a new rod and piston to replace the one that went boom. It would be a lot easier to screw this one together then drop the k-member and just swap the two, rather than trying to swap heads, cam, etc. in the car. What are your opinions? Thanks!

I kinda figured it really wouldn't make that much difference. I know one main difference between the two is the larger "windows" between the mains on the LS6 block. I've gone through the LS1 that I have pretty good and everything looks good. It was just above idle when it hydrolocked. I was creeping through some standing water when some idiot came tearing through from the other direction sending the wake right into my SLP CAI! Basically, the car just shut off never to start again.
