Default whine in rear just picked it up

Was fine then i took it up to 130 and backed off and the rear was whining like crazy. Then i guess it cooled down and stopped till i was almost home now it smells like burning grease and it whines when it gets warm. So ya think they sold me a car with a bum rear? I looked under and nothing leaking or anything. Just was smoke coming off the center piece >.>. Its not leaking from the end of the axles either unless they filled it with grease to shut it up to sell it...

I had a bum Tranny AND rear-end, but I paid $4000 for my 2000 (Real)WS6. Tranny is re-built, but I just bought a T-56, all parts needed for conversion, short shifter, and rear-end for $300 from a friend. He got the stuff off a roller Camaro he bought for $600 and all he wanted was the LS1 and window motors!! I'mma throw that rearend in for now until I can get the $$$ to get a Moser or Ford. Swat

Id take it back, and say look this is wear from prev owner, if there no obvious carnage, or sign of abuse from you then it should be fixed, UNLESS it was sold with no warrentee.

I wont ever buy a car w/o at least a 90 day warrantee anymore. Normally you can pick up on major **** that the previous owner has done in 90 days or so. After that I will be fine paying for any repairs
