Default Rev to 6500 on stock ls1

Will it hurt if I set my shift points at 6400-6500 rpms on stock 1998 engine and 70k miles?

If you want no power and possible coil bind, sure.

Not wise considering the weak rod bolts and oil pump failure.

I dont think there is much power up there to justify shifting so high, the stock cam can only go up so far.

if you are mostly stock I think the best time to shift on a m6 was around 5500.

Most stock cammed ls1's make power till about 5500rpm. I would shift mine at about 5800 or so.

I'd be more worried about the valvetrain not handling 6500rpm on a regular basis. My stock bottom end handles 6500 rpm shifting fine, now playing with that for 30k+ mileage... + hundreds of passes at the track.

at full throttle you will hit the rev limiter before it shifts
