Default t56-questions

well my buddies t-56 is grinding bad in 5th and 6th and he may rebuild it but if he can he may try to find a good one that already built then try and sell his but anyway,im just wondering can you use a t56 out of a 93-97lt1 for a 2000 ss? didnt know if there was any differences?

There are major differences. They can be modified to work. the LT1 t56s have a forked input shaft and an external slave cylinder. The LS1 t56 has a internal slave cylinder that replaces the fork on the input shaft. they have different bell housings also. The amount of trouble it would be, just call Six Speed Inc or another sponser to find the options to fix it. it will possibly be cheaper to get that one fixed most likely. The internals in both LT1 and LS1 are basicly identical from what I know off except for the input shaft. i had 1st-5th gear replaced along with reverse including upgrading everything around them. It's not as expensive as you would think.
