Default Which is the better rear end?

I need to get a new rear end because I blew mine up. I'm considering either the performance axle with the 3.23's or I'm looking at an axle with 3.42's. Now I know the taller gear would be nicer but what fbodies came with the 3.42's with POSI? And is it better than the 3.23 axle? All help is greatly appreciated!

i spent alot of money on building a ten bolt. i had richmond gears, moser axles, auburn unit, and the girdle cover, i still broke. so i bought and S60. cheapest rear out there and i love mine. all i'm saying is think twice before dumping money in a ten bolt.

You can do it for less the 2K, just piece it together, you may not have all the fancy goodies like a Nodular/aluminum case & True trac, the cheapest way is spool it, you save weight & its stronger then most clutch units, i almost broke my back trucking my 3rd. member in the garage with the trac-loc unit, when i picked it up after having a spool & 4.11s put in, i could damn near carry it under my arm lol, No lie, that sucker was so much lighter.

I have about 2100.00 in my 9" & i bought a custom built driveshaft & new BMR torque arm in that price.

Moser houseing/axle package (comes with bearings) 1000.00
3rd. member with full street/track spool, Yukon 4.11s, new bearings, seals & labor 495.00
Custom driveshaft 270.00
BMR torque arm 310.00.

Best investment you'll ever put in your F body by far.

Check the above link out. Moser 9 inch housing an axle package, $1,000.00 shipped. Many people go this route and pick up a used third (center section) member from a Ford vehicle. Bob
