Default oil filler tube removal

this might sound stupid, but i cant get my oil filler tube out-i remember when i installed it, i had to twist it in to the valve cover-i thought by pushing down and turning left, it would come out, but cant budge it-i know theres a notch in the v/c it locks into-the v/c is still on the car
dont beat on me to bad, lol
thanks

Mine is REALLY stubborn as well - I've wanted to replace the truck filler tube with a shorter one, but when I try to remove it, it feels like I'm going to have break the flippin' thing, so I've left it for "later"...
