Default Changing heads, any need to drain oil and coolant?

Is there any need to drain the oil and the coolant in the radiator prior to pulling the heads? I know some coolant will spill out, but the same amount would spill out regardless of whether the radiator is drained or not, right? Thanks for the info!

I would definitely drain the coolant from the radiator and water pump, which will also lower the level in the block. You can also drain the block to reduce the amount of coolant that spills out when you pop off the heads. After draining my block, less than a 1/4 cup of coolant came out after I removed each head. I felt this was better than cleaning coolat out of the cylinders and even possibly getting it past the pistons and into the oil.
No need to drain the oil to change heads.
